APPROACH

We can assist your organization in whatever capacity makes sense for you

Whether you have never claimed a research credit before, or you are well versed and are challenged with maximizing the credit or under examination by the taxing authorities, we can help.

Aside from providing informal general consulting assistance as needed, we structure our work using a phased approach; which we have found clients appreciate as it allows all stakeholders to gain buy-in at every critical stage of the process.

Our phased approach

Our approach is generally broken down into three phases:

Phase I: Feasibility Analysis

Phase II: Credit Study

Phase III:  Examination Support

Phase I: Feasibility Analysis

We generally begin by first performing a feasibility analysis to better understand your facts in order to estimate the amount of credits you may be entitled.  The  Phase I Deliverable report includes a summary of your relevant facts, an estimate of the amount of cash savings, and estimated Phase II Credit Study work plan that outlines the amount of effort that would be required to calculate and document your credits.  In many cases, the feasibility analysis can be completed in a matter of days and at no cost to you.  Upon completion of Phase I and presenting our Phase I findings, we move on to Phase II.

Phase II: Credit Study

During Phase II, we work with you to complete the actual R&D tax credit study.  The Phase II Study deliverable includes an audit-ready package with detailed calculations and documentation to adequately support your credit benefit.

Phase III:  Examination Support

If you are examined by the taxing authorities, we are here to help.

For any clients for which we have assisted in claiming their credits in a Phase  II Study, we offer 8 hours of examination assistance at no cost to you.  The reason we offer this service is two fold: (1) we stand by our work; and (2) it is often critical that we be involved from the start so we can help expedite the process and limit the amount of burden on your organization.
